MORRIS – Piano player Paula Klein took first place in the second week of competition for the Kiwanis Talent Show.
This week’s competition featured adult competitors, but Klein was the only official entrant.
To round out the evening’s entertainment, audience members heard from the Morris Kiwanis Quartet – Ken Hodgson, Charlie Glasrud, Jim Thoreen and Chuck Grussing – and a reading by Neil Thielke. Alex McIntosh, winner of the 2012 talent show, also performed.
Klein will compete at the contest finals on Friday, July 10 during Prairie Pioneer Days.
The Kiwanis will host additional competitions throughout the month. Again this year, the first three Thursday competitions will be designated by categories according to the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Contest guidelines. Teens ages 13 to 19 will compete on June 18. The final night of competition, June 25, will be open to all competitors.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the Morris Kiwanis website, http://morriskiwanis.org/, and the Morris Area Chamber of Commerce site. Forms are also available from Willie’s Super Valu, Sarlettes Music, the Morris Area Chamber of Commerce Office and John’s Total Entertainment. For more information call Ken Hodgson at 320-589-4468.
